  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I rotate around engineering departments every 6 weeks gaining a good knowledge of the business. Day to day tasks are heavily dependent on the placement. It could involve quality issues or manufacturing improvements or investigations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learn new skills daily due to my department rotations. Since starting at Cummins I have gained lots of knowledge and experience.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am thoroughly enjoying the apprenticeship program. I have no. concerns or issues

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship program has been scheduled well. I am always sure of where I should be working and who with. Meetings are scheduled and taken seriously when attended.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have support if I need it and know where I can get it from. Review meetings are in place on a schedule to check on progress and issues.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Lots of support. I am currently attending a weekly session with an EPA expert, which has been organised by the college. I also have meetings with my work based learning manager every 10 weeks

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It provides me with the technical knowledge and skills which I can then apply when I am in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No extra curricular activities that I am aware of. However we have had networking events which has involved us going to other Cummins plants and speaking to other apprentices.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Good company that provides good experiences. Having the opportunity to be put through education at the same time as gaining experience in a world class work place. Pay is competitive and the support is good.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
  • If you have the opportunity, apply to do some work experience.
