  • 6 monthly rotations around a variety of teams, with flexibility on which of these you decide to pursue. These can range from Environmental Impact Assessment, Air Quality, Climate and many more. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme, however believe there should be greater focus on developing a depth of skills - i.e sitting in teams for longer.

    7/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • On the work side of things, there is opportunity to tailor and guide your career as you see fit which is a great benefit. In terms of university, they provide great support and guidance!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive all of our study days which is generous relative to the demands of university. Line managers are very supportive. If there was to be improvement, I believe certain teams could utilize apprentices more and trust us with greater responsibility.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Kingston University has been great at providing the curriculum, as well as ensuring we are compliant with other conditions; such as learning hours and knowledge, skills and behaviours.

    10/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Depends on which team you sit in, however would say it is limited in what we can apply from university to work. A general awareness to environmental science, does however, somewhat help in my role.

    6/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • 6/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend WSP to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • In terms of the programe and opportunities, yes I would. However, in terms of salary no I would not. Large consultancies, in London, pay their apprentices considerably more. Note - nationally the salary is fair but in London it is not.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WSP?
  • Have an understanding of which areas of work/teams are of interest to you and actively read around these to develop an understanding of what is happening in industry. In addition, find a way to convey this through the application process.
