  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Before I started my apprenticeship with TUI, I was very quiet and struggled with talking to people but now being just over 6 months in, I feel a lot more confident in myself and I don't worry about talking to customers and answering the phone anymore.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy finding customers their dream holiday as it feels so rewarding. Everyday I am also learning learning about different destinations by doing my own research and even just talking to the customers about their past holidays. If you are passionate about travel then this is definitely the right apprenticeship for you.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is a very well organised programme, I started my apprenticeship with an induction which helped me understand what I will be doing on my apprenticeship a bit more and then that progressed onto the normal 'My Journey' coursework which is numbered for which order you do them in and my apprenticeship coach uploads them when you are ready for the next piece of coursework. This coursework also builds you up to be ready for the knowledge test at the end of the apprenticeship and helps you reflect on your time so that you can talk about it in the professional discussion.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Each week my manager makes sure I get at least 1 full day where I am off the shop floor and doing the coursework side of my apprenticeship. She is also always there if I need to ask any questions and all of my colleagues will happily help support me too.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My apprenticeship coach provides lot's of support throughout the apprenticeship and if I have any questions, I can easily just message her on Teams or she will organise a video call. There is also support from the other apprentices as there is a whole group on Teams where we can ask questions and also show each other what we have learnt. My apprenticeship coach also sets up a video call each month for a catch up to see how I am doing and to give me any advice on how I could improve my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The coursework that I do for my apprenticeship is very relevant for my role as I makes you research destinations, travel advice, visas, travel restrictions, customer service, and much more. I use all of this knowledge that I have learnt through my coursework when I am talking to my customers and even if my colleagues have questions.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have the opportunity to go on these experiences called 'educationals' which is where they send a group of people who are working in retail to go on holiday for free so that you can learn first hand what these destinations are like. You have to apply for these and they could select you based on your answers but while I have been here so far, there have been ones to Turkey, Cape Verde, Dubai, Thailand, Egypt, etc...

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • If somebody is interested in travel, this would 100% be the apprenticeship I would recommend as you get to learn new things everyday and make peoples day when you book them a holiday as you never know why they are going on holiday until you ask and it feels so achieving to help someone get their dream holiday for a birthday, honeymoon, or even just because they need to relax!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • You definitely need a strong interest in travel and be willing to work under pressure as sometimes the store can get very busy and you have customers everywhere but it means the day goes by fast.
