  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role consists of providing support to other colleagues with data analysis work that can either be internal to the company (in terms of prospecting new clients) or external to existing clients. I am mainly focused in the Tech and Energy sectors which means that my day-to-day consists of analysing salary data that we sell as surveys to clients specifically within those industries, which could be through using software internal to WTW or Excel.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I did not have much prior knowledge about Excel, and since my job is heavily reliant on data, I receive a lot of tasks which use Excel as the primary analysis software. This has helped me to learn a lot more about how Excel works, as well as learning more about salary and compensation data as a whole. Furthermore, I have also picked up a few communication-based skills too, especially within emails and calls to colleagues and clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme is the Junior Management Consultant programme which is based heavily on general business principles. My job role somewhat benefits from this programme as it has a few modules such as communication with clients which is vital in my day-to-day, but there are also a few modules which do not directly relate to my job - so I enjoy the job role but the training programme itself is not as engaging as I would personally hope for.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As part of my training programme, I have to spend 20% of my work hours (7 hours a week) doing my Apprenticeship work. This time is not allocated on a specific day, but is rather to be taken throughout the week as necessary, as my programme is coursework only with no exams - so this is very doable!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • All my colleagues understand what an apprenticeship is and therefore they are always willing to provide help and support wherever needed. For example, if there is a formula on Excel that I do not understand/know how to use, I can ask one of my colleagues who would be happy to help explain it. This is extremely beneficial as an apprentice, as this support helps me to learn continuously whilst giving me the confidence to ask questions as needed as colleagues never turn down the chance to help!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider sets up a call once every month, which is when we go through a new module and get given tasks to complete. The tasks are explained during this call, and we are advised that we can email our training provider at any time if we have any questions.

    6/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I mentioned previously, my qualification does not directly link to my role in every aspect, however, some modules can be transferred over to my role which although are self-explanatory, can be useful as a reminder of basics that may be easily forgettable - such as formatting that is used in emails.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At WTW, there are many communities that you can join which pique your interest. I have an interest in corporate sustainability, so I have joined our Heroes for Zero community which focuses on keeping WTW green and socially responsible. We also have social activities that may be department-wide or just for apprentices too! I also volunteer to attend professional networking events representing WTW and their apprenticeship programmes, where I talk to students looking for an apprenticeship about the roles that we offer.

    9/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • WTW has an amazing community of colleagues who are always up for collaborating together and helping each other out whenever needed. WTW also has helplines for everything, including support that can be provided to solve issues such as IT problems or HR, which is always useful to know is there at your disposal 24/7.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • I would strongly suggest practising for interview processes such as Assessment Centres etc. which can be found online on platforms such as Youtube. Visiting our careers website at https://careers.wtwco.com/ and looking through our values and what we look for in a candidate is also extremely useful when preparing for interviews. Another tip would be to thoroughly research the role you are applying for and ensuring that your CV and interview answers are relevant to the programme.
