My role as Care assistant involves providing care and support for people living with dementia.
I have learnt lots of new skills during my apprenticeship. I have been shadowing the nurses and nursing assistants. Also the course ensures you to take a more in-depth look into policies and procedures and current laws and legislations.
I'm really enjoying the programme an not finding it too hard to fit around existing commitments. If you really want something in life you have to put in the effort!
The programme is well organised. My online training is broken down into months of the year so I can study the required knowledge for each unit, taking an assessment at the end. My learning coach then reads through and offers feedback on any extra areas I need to cover.
My employer is very supportive and ensures I receive paid training hours.
My training provider is very supportive, I only have to message, email or call if I have a problem and someone will always get back to me promptly
The qualification helps me to perform better as I truly understand each area of my job in a much greater depth
Not very often, mostly at christmas
