  • General cost management process and construction phases. Including tenders, cost reports, valuations, benchmarking etc. Day to day duties vary depending on the project with no two days the same. You may be office or site based with office based employees occasionally visiting their projects construction sites

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills and terminology. I have built upon my excel knowledge as well as learning new systems for drawings and measurements such as AutoCad and CostX

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme and love the variety between university studies and practical work experience. There are many ways to socialise and network in this programme despite not being in the traditional university route

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured spending one day a week at university and 4 days working. We have extra training to ensure we continue our professional development throughout our apprenticeship

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support not only from my team but the wider business including the emerging talent team with all questions answered promptly

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have regular meetings with my training provider to support my job and qualification however sometimes the training provider struggles to understand we do work a full time job too

  • Some aspects of my qualification aid me in my role but more often i find my role aiding my qualification

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am involved in many activities for example Women at Mace which is a group that meets monthly to discuss challenges and opportunities of being women in the business and industry

  • Yes

  • Mace is a company that is truly dedicated to your development and their values and seen through and through. I feel valued in my team and no question is ever silly. Everyone is so willing to help and share their experiences to ensure you develop as much as possible


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Be yourself, the company aren’t just hiring you for your grades but they are investing a lot of time, money and resources into you as an individual so always be yourself both in interviews and your job as Mace is a very diverse group that will willing accept you
