  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I ensure the setting is set up ready and safely for both staff and the children to attend for that day. I over look staffing and practice and all health and safety jobs within the setting ensuring we are following best practice and legal requirements meeting the early years foundation stage.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed a level 6 in early years. I have worked in childcare 8 years now so already hold alot of knowledge. It has been nice to refresh my knowledge and go back to the basic. It’s been nice to develop my skills in completing different assignments and learning new research techniques.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme and have found my tutor very good. I am able to complete my work at a steady pace and I have found the work quite easy to complete with a good range of resources readily available provided by my apprenticeship programme. Very easy to complete.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I find it very easy to use, I am set work monthly which you can sort into which is the easiest to complete first, they seem to all be in units so all on the same topic set for most of the month and sometimes carried into the next month too.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am able to complete my work doing working hours and have been given lots of support from my nursery manager who has been completing observations on me which are needed to complete my qualification. She is also willing to give lots of knowledge to help me in completing my qualification.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I can contact my tutor at any point, we have monthly catch ups where she will check over my work which I have submitted and she will also talk me through new work which she has set me. If I ever struggle with any work I can contact her on the app or via text message or phone call.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • By having my qualification it means that I am able to be included in children ratios which is helpful with the business. It allows me to be able to work in the rooms which the children in ratio to support all the staff members and alongside new students or staff.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work we have meetings each month to develop our continuous professional development. We also get social events paid for by the company such as festivals or days out. The company I work for are very generous and want to show appreciation to their staff by giving little gestures.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company is very laid back but will follow all legislation and laws. The company put you through thorough training and will continue to develop your knowledge through staff meetings. The company offer competitive pay and also give generous gifts to show their appreciation to the staff, such as treats and team building.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Daisy Chain Day Care?
  • Show a caring and positive attitude towards wanting to learn and work with children. Be familiar with all the Early years foundation stage and different legislations for the early years settings. Show that you are enthusiast about working with children and a willingness to learn and develop your skills and knowledge.
