  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current responsibility at the organisation is to create data sets for my project team so they can report them to the client and raise their level of satisfaction. The several test methods (biochemical and enzyme assays), data analysis of my plate readouts, lab notebook reports, and project meetings are some daily chores I have been able to learn from. Depending on where you are in the companys rotation, this differs between departments.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been really fortunate to have the chance to accomplish that. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] offers an apprenticeship programme that enables you to become familiar with how various business divisions operate. Coming from a non-scientific background, I learned all the fundamental abilities I required to complete any task during my first year of study in analytics. Pipetting, time management, communication, and competencies appropriate for the position are some of these qualities. My second year was spent in the Biology department, where I acquired more sophisticated skills like assay methods for numerous projects. These were constructed using the skills I acquired while working in analytics. To help me in my work and save money, I have also learned how to use modern machinery and equipment

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have definitely loved the programme since it has allowed me to work with professionals in the sector and has also given me practical experience. My coworkers are always willing to support me with anything I'm having trouble with, and the business culture is really accepting. The offered university course is interesting and covers a wide range of themes, including both biological and chemistry-related issues. The course is quite simple to follow and, because of this, you may enhance your skills without getting overwhelmed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have discovered that being a part of this curriculum is highly organised, as you always know what to do next and what is expected of you. Regular one-on-one meetings with your manager and mentor provide you the chance to ask questions and get clarification on specific tasks you are required to complete. To track your progress and ensure you receive pertinent training, safety inductions and training plans are set up when the apprenticeship first begins.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Both the mentors and managers of the scheme provide a great deal of the necessary help, as was already noted in the previous questions. Since they are always willing to assist you, I believe there is never a silly question to ask them. In the event that they are unable to personally assist you, they will always point you in the correct direction so you may get support. They also stay current on your university coursework, which helps them comprehend your workload and keep an eye on any problems you may be having.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When we complete our online coursework and modules, the University [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] supports us with a similar mentality. You have a point of contact for the university and module convenors who are available to speak with when you need help understanding the material. Because they are excellent at explaining things, this enables you to advance and get high grades in exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the qualification gives us the background information and understanding needed to comprehend our analyses and positions within the organisation. Enzyme assays and the impact of enzymes on inhibition are just two examples of the topics we study in the degree that are pertinent to the work we do every day. This has been helpful as I have taken on the duties of a weekly chemical screen utilising different enzymes.

Volunteer charity days and stem events are additional chances provided by the business.
