  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Every day in PwC is different and there is always a variety of tasks to be completed. My main role is to complete evidence gathering activities to ensure there is no material misstatements in the clients financial statements. There are also a multitude of clients that are audited by PwC which are in different sectors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to project manage as I work on lot of different clients at the same time. This has accelerated my progress and learning as each client teaches me something new as they all have their different nuances. Moreover, I have also learned how to apply the skills I learned in University to the workplace.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme has a good mix of university learning as well as gaining real life work experience. The work experience is especially useful as it gives a good grounding to the knowledge learned in the course. Overall, I enjoy this course due to the good balance it provides to me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course is structured so that each year builds on the knowledge you have learned in previous years. At times, the university course can be very busy as there isn't too much time to prepare for the exams at some particular points however this can be useful to improve skills such as resilience.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From the start of the placement you are given a career coach and a buddy who are always there to help you if you have any questions. All of the colleagues I have worked with have also been happy to answer my questions and if there are any issues these have ironed out promptly.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university do provide support when working towards the ACA qualification with their lectures and workshops. The university also provide a buddy/ career coach who is somebody you can talk to if you have any particular worries relating to university, exams or anything in between. The support they provide can be useful.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Studying for the ACA qualification helps me to perform better in my role in numerous ways such as have particular tax knowledge that I can refer to when answering client queries. It is useful as the exams teach you the basics of your role and then work experience teaches you the more complex areas of audit.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of extra curricular activities and options to get involved in at work . There are many sports teams and different societies so there is something for everyone. I am involved in the tennis society and this is a great way to build connections with colleagues in an enjoyable environment.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend PwC as it is a great opportunity to work with a large firm which opens up options. It also assists you in meeting like minded people which is very useful for career development. The firm is also very socially active. Overall, PwC will help you build many useful skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • I would firstly ensure you take some time to read all about the opportunity you are applying for as this will help yourself to check if you would like to work for a firm like PwC. I would also be aware of the latest financial new events so that you can show you are commercially aware at the interview stage.
