  • I work with multi agency partners to prepare, respond and recover from emergency events. I also work with colleagues to ensure we deliver the gold standard of customer service

  • University has provided me with a focus on my personal development and an ability to justify decisions with academic references

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is good although I wish I had done it earlier in my career when my day role was not so intense

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The timetable this semester was not great. I have to leave home around 6.45am to arrive for the first lecture at 9am and if I stayed until the last lecture which finished at 6pm, I would not get home until 8pm.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • SSE have been great at allowing me to take a full day a week out of the office for uni. I never feel pressured into working in between lectures

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Queen Margaret University has been impacted by the strikes but the lecturers have went above and beyond to ensure this hasn't impacted our learning experience

  • The learning is relatable to my broader organisation so whilst not directly impacting my performance, it has been enhancing my overall understanding

  • Yes - I am involved in several working groups

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I have been with SSE for almost 18 years and have worked in a variety of roles. The size of the organisation means there is lots of opportunity to move into different roles


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SSE?
  • Do it! It's a great place to work
