  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on a day to day basis, I complete a mixture of welding and fabricating. In fabrication we create steel structure relevant to the job we will be doing out of steel and this involves a process of using different tools and machinery. in welding, we learn to create porosity free welds through the guidance of our supervisor or lecturer.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel this qualification helps me to get used to the basics of my role, although the time spent in college is very different to the time spent in the workplace. when I enter the workplace I have the tools necessary to understand the workings of the tools and machinery although I feel I have to re-learn alot of aspects as the materials used are completely different to my initial training.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have already recommended BAE systems to a friend, this is because of the multitude of support groups, activities, benefits and all staff that I have spoken to have been a pleasure to speak to no matter who or how high they are in the company. the staff from both the college and the company offer support if you are struggling for any reason and will try to work with you to find a resolve. this is one of the best companies I have worked for as I feel valued and respected as a worker and a person.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • answer questions honestly and give all information possible, the company will work with you on any problems. more advice I would give is to work hard on any task given be it paperwork, giving evidence, or a practical task. you will be noticed and rewarded for these efforts and the company will give you the option to go further in the business by being a supervisor or manager if you wish, as well as this the company will give you the option to change trades for a different role in the workplace if you find you are struggling or unhappy.
