  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my role, I had to take on daily tasks within the branch, counting, serving customers, checking off stock on deliveries. As well as booking in stock and reporting back everything, I have been doing coursework for my apprenticeship.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have become more confident by doing this course like communication skills with the customers or other branches. I have also have gathered better product knowledge which I have picked up through the course and by speaking to the customers/other colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed that through the course I was gaining enough experience so that I was getting more access (responsibility) to the options on the pos screen and being able to achieve other qualifications / licenses I.E FLT, First aid and being a cover van driver for the branch.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel the programme itself was good. But I do believe there was a bit too much coursework considering you are having to take tasks out in the branch (working) as well. But other than that I thought the programme was really good for people like myself who have never been in the building trade before.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received the best support from my manager during the course of the apprenticeship. Being really patient with my learning due to not being in the building trade before and teaching me good product knowledge as well as the system in the branch. He also was very supportive if I had any concerns about the course or even if something was worrying me at home.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training coach wasn't my coach through the whole course but he came in the last stretch of my apprenticeship as I had three coach swaps from start to finish. But I couldn't think of a better coach to help me towards the end of my ILP assessment as he was always there if I needed help with anything or had any concerns with the coursework.

    10/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
