  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, so I've learnt new business skills, have a good understanding of the fixed and mobile network operations, wifi technology etc. I've also developed on my programming skills, having more confidence with sql, python, javascript etc. I am now better at viewing situations with a more customer focused hat on to improve the products for better customer satisfaction.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Yes the degree apprentice programme is good. I was able to rotate into different teams within the area of the business to meet new employees, learn new skills and get more knowledge within BT. The batch training sessions were good as it allowed my brain to switch to uni work for the multiple days, rather than one day every other week say.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was structured well for the training and the team rotations, however the training class rooms and lesson content could of been better organised. The pandemic didn't help the situation with assessments and classes being online online, when sometimes would of been better in person. But couldn't be helped much.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There was lots of support, from a couple colleagues offer to proof read some of reports to check for gramma or spelling mistakes etc. Too being allocated tasks in the day-to-day work which supported my uni work. Plus being allowed to work on the uni assignments 1 day of the working week, was great

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I had received some support from the training provider with any questions I had, however quicker responses would of been good, as sometimes i wouldn't get a response for weeks. Which was no good when you've only got a total of 4 weeks to get a report done.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it helps with the documentation side of work now. And it also gave me a lot of terminology and understanding of ways of working in the team on projects. Looking to the always the business benefits and follow the governance. So yes i'd say it has helped with my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a few social activities at lunch, a few sport clubs which you can join as well. It's very good on that front. However these not too many networking events, only 1 a year I'd say, I'd like more like 3 to 4 in a year.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They treat you very well, give you the train tools, equipment and training from the start and everyone is kind and helpful. The business has so many different roles so you can move about in the business to try different jobs and develop your skills and advance your career into different paths.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • If you're finishing college and applying like i did, then I recommend going above and beyond the expected with just having your GCSEs and A-levels. This means do things outside of school...You could join IT Clubs, code your own software program, manage a production event, work experience with a company etc, anything extra which helps you stand out from the majority will help.
