  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My current job role involves testing the 999 platforms that are used to provide emergency services to those in need of them. Daily tasks include running test executions, to identify bugs in those systems. For any bugs we do find, we try to resolve them either by ourselves or with the assistance of the lead developers of the platform.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The predominant skills I have developed include my ability to communicate with others in such a way that I can develop the skills I need rapidly. Furthermore, I have gained the skill of self-teaching, to supplement this. Overall I have gained the ability to learn from others and fill gaps in my knowledge with my own research if I need to.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I very much enjoy my programme. It has presented many challenges both in my degree and the job role itself. I have enjoyed all aspects of the degree, which has allowed me to not only learn what is required for my job but also skills that may be useful for other job roles in the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured and organised. The job role offers consistent rotations so that I can gain a wider knowledge of the business. The degree starts with simple concepts and then builds on these later on with more advanced modules. This makes the learning flow consistently and logically.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Throughout my time as a network apprentice, my company has offered outstanding support. I have been awed by their commitment to my growth and learning from the very beginning. They have established a supportive and encouraging environment that has allowed me to develop and flourish while also giving me access to a wealth of tools, advice, and criticism. I appreciate their dedication to my accomplishment.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My education has greatly improved how well I perform in my position as a network apprentice. I am now more equipped to tackle obstacles because of the knowledge and abilities I have acquired via my studies. I am able to translate abstract ideas into real-world contexts, which has helped me make better decisions and support my team more successfully.
