  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • The experience included many different experiences such as talks with solicitors, trainee solicitors, apprentices, in house lawyers and clients such as the virgin money employees. We had group exercises where we were able to discuss and argue our points - getting us to develop our debate skills. We also recieved tips for our cvs and applications.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I was able to work on my communication and confidence skills as we were doing our group exercises either in smaller groups or in the main group. Furthermore I also developed my listening skills and concentraition as there were many times where we would be receiving advice and not really discussing.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed it. I think it's a great way to develop many skills and learn more about the different career paths within law. I enjoyed hearing many different perspetives and ways that people went about in order to join the law career path it gave me a wider view on how to approach the career.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • I think it was very organised the timing of the day was very clearly explained and even so we were given reminders just in case. The sessions themselves were very well organised and always full of things which meant there were always something to discuss and learn and kept us engaged.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • A lot. There were so many different workers which meant I was able to see the different ways that the company works and how a day-to-day would go if I would decide to join. Being able to hear from the clients also gave me a view on what my role would look like.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • It really helped in deciding whether I would like to be a solicitor or barrister however as it has given me a wider view on how I could join the career, I now have more options and therefore a bit confused on which way I would like to join the career.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No I wanted to do this experience for myself and in order to find out more about the company and how it opperates. It also gave me an insight on the things I would do if I was a lawyer and gave me the opportunity to ask questions to professionals.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Yes the programme was really great with giving us opportunities to talk to the other employees whether that was through a networking lunch or by putting us into smaller groups and giving us time to discuss and talk with each other. They provided us with much support in terms of communicating with each other.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company representitives were really friendly and easy to talk to, they gave us a lot of support and answered any questions we had in a simple way so that it was easy to understand. The clients themself seemed very pleased with the company and seeing many different big companies working alongside pinsent gave it a positive view.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • Definetly to put yourself out there and be yourself - embrace your uniqueness and personality because the firm will accept you for who you are. Don't be scared to ask questions or participate in disussions because it could takeway key opportunities and development of skills, but also you won't be able to learn more if you don't.
