  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day I work within the operations teams in Internal Audit and take on variety of admin roles, PA support and help with the smooth running of the function. There are always new and interesting tasks to take on that I would have never expected.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • So far I have massively developed my IT skills on multiple applications including excel, teams and outlook. This role has allowed me to advance my business writing and communication skills, growing my confidence every day as I meet new people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my experience so far, and I am super grateful for how welcoming my team were making the transition into my role that much better. I'm super happy with my decision to leave school and join the programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured making it easy to understand while still implementing a level of flexibility. This is especially fitting with the qualification as there is lots of choice to sit additional exams and choose when/ where you would like to sit them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer as given me amazing support regarding both work and personal matters. Helping me find the best possible solution for the matter.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received lots of support from my training provider, giving me more power and confidence over majority of the learning I take on. I have also received masses of help when it comes to questions or topics that I am unsure about.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far the work I have done for my qualification has helped me perform better in specific aspects of my day-to-day role such as excel and other Microsoft applications which I previously new little about.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I joined the Balance network within abrdn and was given the opportunity to help organise and run an event for International Women's Day. I am also apart of NextGen- a network aimed at the younger generation of abrdn-. Both have allowed me to make new friends and connections.

  • 9a. Would you recommend abrdn to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Joining abrdn ahs been the best route that I could have taken at this point in my life as it has given me so many new skills that I wouldn't have learned from staying during my 6th year at school. As well as building my confidence, independence and maturity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to abrdn?
  • I would tell anyone who is considering applying to just go for it and take the chance. It has been a great experience for myself and I have loved every second of it so far. Be confident and be yourself. Don't overthink and start doubting yourself!
