I started my apprenticeship doing the general office apprentice role which meant that I was spending a few months in each department helping out around the whole of the business and getting an understanding of what I would like to do with my future and plan my career. I only ended up doing 3 departments as I found where I wanted to stay and got offered a full time position.
I've learnt many new skills such as: Resilience Being Proactive & reactive Having Negotiation skills Being Analytical Being Thorough Attention to detail Being Collaborative Being Responsive Being Flexible Being Firm but fair Problem solving Decision making Relationship management Being Organised Adaptability. All of these help with my day to day tasks.
I had a great experience overall with my apprenticeship programme. Plastribution as a company were very supportive and made sure I had time to complete all of my coursework as well as making time for my training within the business and helping me build my personal knowledge. Juniper were also great, Darren helped me throughout my apprenticeship and gave me great feedback which allowed me to work up to completing my course with great results.
The programme was well organised with meetings every 2-4 weeks depending on my working schedule. My Tutor made sure I was always on track with my coursework and not getting behind at all, while also giving me a few extra bits of work which gave me a great head start when it came to producing my final piece of work.
My Employer was great and supported me a lot with my apprenticeship. My line manager was always getting involved with my meetings and willing to give any support possible as well as getting my team involved with any references or anything that might've helped me with my course completion.
The support was very good and helped alot towards my qualification. The regular 1-2-1's helped me keep on track of my goal, and I was always encouraged to contact my tutor with any questions I had to make sure I wasn't struggling or getting behind on any of my work, whether that be for my apprenticeship or even my work tasks.
The qualification did help me perform better in my role in every aspect, whether that be my communication to suppliers and customers (written and spoken), or the working style of how I dealt with incoming enquiries etc. There are many things that helped me out but it's hard to put a name on just one as the course covered a lot and helped me understand 'business structures' as a whole.
Yes they make a huge effort to organise social events to help with team building and socializing. Due to being a large business, there are some individuals that don't actually get to speak to each other on a day-to-day basis so these help with bringing everyone together. This is done through sports day, football days, charity events, team building nights out and more, which is all arranged by the 'social committee' within the company
Yes
My overall experience with the company has been great. From the first day of joining I've been made to feel welcome within my roles and even when moving around the departments it was never a stressful process. As well as this, they do alot for their employees and care about their careers as well as growing the business which means there's always new opportunities on their way.
I would say definitely give it a try, they're very supportive with their employees and will help people find the career that best suits them. When applying for the apprenticeship I had no idea what I actually wanted to do with my future but since joining they've helped me massively and guided me through the different teams to see which role suits me the most.
