  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in the managed services side of the company. I look after 2 house association contracts to ensure that their operatives have everything they need in order to complete repair works of peoples homes. It is my responsibility to ensure the stock they need is available.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Having not come from a builders merchant background the apprenticeship allowed me to get to grips with the products to learn how & why the products we sell are used in a certain way. It has also helped me to develop my communication skills when dealing with customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I found the programme extremely helpful, it was good to get in extra learning alongside doing my regular job role. At times I felt it difficult to pull myself away from work in busy periods, but I enjoyed completing the apprenticeship tasks throughout.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was structures & well organised. There was very little that I had to do as an apprentice to make sure that I knew my deadlines & when my webinars were.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received lots of support from my managers and superiors & provided more than enough time to complete the work. There was no pressure added to get things done in a certain time frame in order to get back to my job role.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There was lots of support available to me. My apprenticeship coach was always on hand if I had any queries or required extra support with a task.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the programme has helped me build my knowledge & allowed me to build confidence within my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are social activities which we plan within branch. We are also actively encouraged ti build relationships & network with other branches and suppliers.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that TP is a company which want to see people progress and grow. There are lots of opportunities & nothing ever seems too much to ask. I am yet to not be offered to do something to help progress myself and my career within TP.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • I would advise people to ask as many questions as possible, be open minded and honest within customers and colleagues & continue to be yourself.
