  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In the morning I complete any tasks to be completed such as checking the manual and electronic diaries to check for any follow ups or balance collections needing to be done and action them as needed. I complete the daily window deals on alternating days, finding the best deals I can. I then check emails and teams messages for anything urgent needing response or action. During the day I tend to customers and assist them in booking holidays or assist with existing bookings. I also deal with travel money in the bureau

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme and it is very welcoming, there are other apprentices in the teams channel who I can ask for assistance if I need it, likewise other apprentices can receive help from me if it's a question I know the answer to. There is always support available whether this be with other apprentices or coaches.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the programme is very well organised and I know what I need to do and when I need to do it by. On the smart assessor system I can see a breakdown of what is needed and resources to help me with my work so I cover as many bases as possible.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer and other colleagues. My apprenticeship coach is always on hand to help me if I do get stuck and other apprentices can also help too. There was also a teams chat and meetings by former apprentices from other stores supporting us through our apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support I receive is great, there is TUI People training which has destination training which is amazing for destination knowledge and gives me much needed knowledge on which customer types would prefer which destinations all laid out in an easy format for me to understand, not complicated and easy to follow.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think that it helps to gain that extra knowledge which can make all the difference in my everyday job. The trainings will help me gain a better knowledge of certain subjects and help me to advise customers more successfully in things like passport requirements, ticket types and other topics I have studied in my apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are professional networking events that we get through occasionally, these may be through third party providers or networking companies but these are amazing opportunities to talk to representatives from different companies and hotel brands we sell and get useful information from them perhaps about different things that might be going on with the hotels or brand.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have a lot of support in my apprenticeship, I haven't found the work hard at all, sometimes slightly challenging but I know I can ask either other apprentices or my apprenticeship coach if I do get stuck. Most of the tasks set for me have been very simple and easy to understand

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • I would advise them to be themselves and that this is a great opportunity, and they can use the knowledge they gain in a future job in the travel industry or as a travel advisor for TUI. The knowledge gained will be a great stepping stone for career progression within the industry.
