  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work across our three major clouds - GCP, AWS and Azure. I support the sales team with enablement, planning, and process improvement. ​The nature of my roles means I’m more aligned to supporting cloud operations than sales, but - I can help navigate cloud sales, market place, ISV and incentives.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've improved in many different areas such as my speaking skills. I was not as confident speaking in large crowds prior to my apprenticeship however since developing in my role I've built the confidence to speak and lead a crowd. I also feel I've improved my Microsoft skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme to a high extent as I've met amazing people such as my manager, work alongside our Azure, Google, AWS and Microsoft team. I've been supported by all teams in settling into my role. I also have built strong relationships with other apprentices in my cohort.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is structured very well. The first week was an induction at our head quarter's where Q&A's, workshops and introductions were held. The following week we had an activities week at the Peak District to get to know each other further and get to learn more about the company.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive exceptional support from my employer. I am supported in any queries I need answering. I am also supported with any support needed in work I find difficult or if I need support from other aspects of the team they are able to give me that extra help needed.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider Corndel provides us online work to complete. As well as online workshops and a in person workshop every quarter.. They are happy to support me in my course or any extra needs in my job role. They also look at our progress quarterly and hold meetings with my manager.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like ive learnt many skills from my training provider to help support me on my job role. For example we had workshops learning about Microsoft applications which tied into my job role closely as I work with these applications on a daily. I also became more confident speaking through Corndel.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, my company hold events regularly such as kick off and founders day which involves all company. There are also after work social events such as poker or sports based activities. They also hold activities that fit employees hobbies such as baking, musical instruments, singing and many other activities in office.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Softcat has really opened up my confidence. I feel like ive learnt many new skills and know how to take responsibilities within projects. Softcat has an amazing community and everyone gets along. Our five values are always held within each person you meet. You will always feel happy at work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • My advice would be is be yourself! Softcat is all about diversity and always take in people with open hands no matter who you are. Softcat will always support you with any needs or support you need so if you don't feel confident always speak up to someone for extra help.
