  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to aid the team I am on by taking responsibility over various areas that would include contacting and arranging calls with clients to understand their processes/questions I have over them. Projects include a wide range from clients in software industry to law firms to steel companies.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The main skill learnt is communication and confidence. With having to deal with clients on a daily basis you are really thrown in the deep end but learn and coached quickly to deal with adverse situations. It has really helped me improve my communication skills and my ability to think on my feet

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program itself works alongside exams and both the on the job training and exams combine technical skills and personal skills which means I improve daily. The program itself is tough but has really helped me develop into a much more confident and aware individual. The program allows me to study in a vast amount of areas.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is structured as a 3 year program with stages being obvious and explicit from the outset. Deadlines for exams/reports are communicated well in advance and calls to discuss these are put in my diary early, allowing plenty of time to prepare. Overall structured well and plenty of calls allows me to voice any concerns I have.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Employer does support the apprenticeship by paying for tuition and providing coaching as well as providing days assigned to allow right ups of reports for the apprenticeship. Personal career coaches are assigned to everyone and even buddies are assigned to new starters to help guide you through the process and pass on experiences.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Training provide does provide some element of support for the qualification being there to have a chat and voice any questions or worries that you might have. They also provide very valuable tuition for every exam which includes course materials as well as seemingly almost 24/7 support via email for any questions I may have.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The leaning provided includes both technical as well as personal skills. For example the exams build upon each other and allow my technical skills to develop to the standard that now within a year I feel comfortable having discussions with more senior team members of this nature. Personal skills also include how to right reports and interact with clients.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Many extra-curricular activities within my work specifically within my business unit. Sport socials are monthly with a new sport each month to try out. Last month was bouldering where many members who I rarely know joined and allowed me to network. Invites get sent to every employee who may be interested in professional events too.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Great office, great staff, great culture. From the moment I walked in, I have felt welcomed. Every employee has gone through the path you have and are very happy to take time to focus on how you are getting on outside of work and make the work life balance very easy for myself.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Don't worry about your background, subjects you've studied or schools you have been to. PwC are all about the individual and if you apply here the best thing to do is make it all about you and why you'd be a good fit as a person rather than how your degree/a-levels are suited to the job. They train you in the way they want so having less experience in some areas is actually a good thing!
