  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Starting as an apprentice, I was involved in the admin side. This included filing documents, sending documents and emails to underwriters, uploaded documents for signing on platforms and also answering queries for my team to underwriters or others. I was also asked to make documents such as slips and endorsements.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my communication skills as well as writing skills as I have to talk to my team daily and also write many emails whether to people in the company or outside. Able to adjust my writing depending on who I am writing to. I have been able to expand my network by actively asking question and speaking to others.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed it very much during the few months I have joined the company as I have been involved in many tasks and feel very supported and welcomed by the team. Additionally, I have been able to have enough time to study around my exams and everyone is considerate not to overload me with work during exam period. I also feel like part of the team as they are giving me a few responsibilities and joining in a project as a assistant broker.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Fairly structured. I have been able to have time to study during the week and have enough time to carry out revision before exams. We get lessons set across the weeks to help support us in our study and also get lots of revision resources to aid us in the difficult topics of the textbook.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Feel very supported by my line manager who looks over my work and ensures that I am handling my study and work well. He also ensures that I am comfortable in the surroundings as it is my first job. He also assist in my study side, increasing my knowledge in the sector.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Quite supported as they do carry out lessons and I also know who to look for when need help on certain topics. I also get meetings to check up on how I am doing and whether I have any concerns or worries regarding anything in my work and study. They also have an eye out on when our exams are and the results which they then take further actions to help support if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am more aware of what is going on in my job role and what my colleagues are doing. It gives me a greater idea on how the industry works overall and what components make it up. It not only helps in my job role, like knowing what to do on a day to day basis but also helps me understand how those who I work with in my job also function.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I have attended some social activities, getting to know the other apprentices and other in the workplace including more senior members. I have also been able to join work experience with an insurer where I also attended professional networking event in that company getting to know more about who they are and how they work with us.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Friendly and nice environment to work in, very supported by the team. They also encourage a balance lifestyle ensuring that our mental health is good and that we do not work overload. A very inclusive community which allows you to feel comfortable and fit in well no matter what may be of concern to you.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Be proactive and think about all the skills and scenarios that can help assist you in the work environment. They would be looking for how well you can communicate and make relationships with others. Also ensure that you know the values of the company as it is very important to how well you can fit in with the community.
