  • Working alongside BT Network Engineers to Build, Fix and Operate BTs Core Network

  • Presenting, Team Work, Office Fundamentals, Linux command line, Configuration syntax of several vendor devices. Networking Fundamentals, Hardware and Protocols

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • As an apprentice you aren't relied upon for operational use towards the business, this enables you the time to develop and grow. However you are still a well respected member of the team and treated as valued member of staff.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme itself is very organised with a full team in place to deal with apprentices specifically, enabling you to reach out into different areas and keep you in the loop.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Employer is very supportive with study given further time off away from work if more studying is required.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • University is an unorganised training provider, leaving students without the correct tools to engage and participate in the learning required fully. This is picked up by BT as a result.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Modules of the degree sometime cannot be directly applied to our role due to technology advancing so quickly and training content not being adapted to this.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Onsite association just to deal with people looking to join sports societies ranging from football all the way to sailing. Networking dealt with by another organisation within BT with a strong representative within Diversity.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Above average paid apprenticeship with great job perks also, Job security seems very good as well as learning through the job with a great work environment.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Don't be put off by the amount of applicants that a received each year, because if you do manage to succeed you will not look back.
