  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently work for Toolstation I have progressed to all from a stores sales assistant and now I am a supervisor who is currently undergoing a level 3 in management. I serve customers, deal with day to day enquiries, complete management tasks and help the business run smoothly on a daily basis

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed participating in the program as I have been able to existent my knowledge a little bit about the company. The program has taught me new information I have not learnt from other members of management. I have also enjoyed completing some of the tasks given on the programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme could do with tweaking a little bit as the diary can be confusing when you are logging your work. There is not enough information on tasks sometimes and you are left wondering if you have inputted enough information on the document. I would also suggest having longer time frames to complete each task as this can be a problem at times.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager supports me if I am stuck and need assistant however I feel like I need an hour or two a week to go through tasks during work hours without any interruptions from other staff members as I am doing all my work at home and not doing any during work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Wendy is amazing who is my programme leader. Wendy is always on hand if I need any assistance. Wendy explains tasks very clearly she gives clear instructions. I feel that I am supported very well from my training provider. Wendy is fair when it comes to working towards my qualifications if I am behind on work she supports me to help me complete the task

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My training provider helps me to the best of her abilities however since I have worked with Toolstation for some time now I feel like the information shared with me is the majority of the time I already know however this is not their fault. I feel like the programme should do a genera test to see how much the individual person knows before giving out certain take to complete as the information I have learnt is not helping me perform better in my role as I was already doing the jobs before starting the course and knew the information

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We all get together for charity events to help raise money for the charity we have done sponsor walks up snowdon mountain, we hold coffee mornings and we try and go out for a meal as a team to bond and get teams moral up. We do a lot of activities as a team

  • 9a. Would you recommend Travis Perkins Plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Toolstation to a friend for how friendly staff are, training that can be provided, career opportunities and other reasons. However I would also inform them of why not to work for Toolstation as the rate of pay is very low compared to its competitors and the contracted hours that are offered does not help most individuals who are seeking work

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • I would say that toolstation have good resources to accessing 40% of your wages before pay day, they have a money saving pot that can be done via wage stream, you can buck up on your skills and further your career within the company. 20% off discount which is perfect and you get my perks with other additional offers on
