  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role day to day is doing sales. I call customers up or they call me up for enquires or to place orders. I have my own accounts to deal with every day. I also do quotes every day for everyday customers that call up. I also serve at the counter.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed every part of this programme even the hard bits. I enjoyed doing all the research for the work. I especially enjoyed looking at all the products that we sell and learning all about them and what they do. I have also enjoyed working with the other apprentices.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In my opinion, I think that the programme is structured really well. The Individual Learning Plan is set out really well and it is easy to understand. I like the way that each module is set out nicely and everything is easy to read. I also like the way that my coach can put feedback on it as well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a lot of support from my manager. She has let me have all the time that I need to do all my work. I also was given a lot of time to revise my Maths and English to get ready for my exams. Any time that I had a problem I knew that I could go to my manager to get some support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received a lot of support from my coach. She has been really amazing to me. Every time that I have a problem or I get confused about my work, she is always there for me to give me the help that I need. She has also helped me a lot with my Maths and English work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification would help me perform better in my role because I would have a lot more confidence in myself which means I would have more confidence in serving customers and more confidence in my product knowledge which will help me with customers in selling materials. I would also have more knowledge about the company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We support Prostate Cancer Charities, so we would have charity events to make lots of money for charity. There is also a Diversity and Inclusion Group in the company. Also, there are Supplier Days that we get involved in where you can go and see the supplier to see how they work and make materials and also they would come into our branch for training.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Travis Perkins Plc to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Keyline is a great place to work. It has great people to work with. Keyline has a great support system, they always look after your well-being and are always there to support you whenever you need it. Travis Perkins as a whole always look after their staff really really well.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Travis Perkins Plc?
  • The advice I would give is that you do not need to know anything about the construction/building industry to get a job at Keyline. They will give you all the training you need. Also there would be apprenticeships for new people to do as well so they would learn everything then.
