  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • I enjoyed it, it was very insightful and detailed when they described to us the different sectors of law and his you can have a taste of 4 different sectors and then choose which one you enjoyed and worked well in. The supervisors were very friendly and talkative which I really liked.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I learnt how to work in a group when it comes to tasks that are full of discussions and opinions about what it the best situation and best option. I really liked giving my ideas in the Jaffa cake task and it was take on board, which made me realise that I shouldn’t doubt myself.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed it I found it to beery interesting and helpful in deciding whether this is the right career path for me and it helped me come to a decision about whether I want to study law at uni which I still do want to despite not needing to.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • It was very organised even when sessions where cancelled we where told beforehand, every time I had a technical issue or couldn’t arrive at a session they responded to my email very quickly and where very understanding. The presenters and the solicitors especially [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was very communicative and interesting to listen to.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learned that it is the very opposite to a hierarchal office structure and that the partners, the lawyers, the paralegals they all are like one family and bonded everyone helps each other out and it’s more if a team company that a rigid uncomfortable place. There really isn’t any need to have imposter syndrome since everyone is so welcoming.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • I am very keen on going into the field in was apprehensive and did not want to be a lawyer but just wanted to study the subject since I love ethics and I very passionate about that side of law and this work experience really helped me become more interested in it’s practice.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No I was not paid for the experience, although even though I wasn’t I think it was still a good opportunity since it allowed me to explore options for my career path and now I have more of an idea of what I’m interested in and will enjoy.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • I met some of the most interesting and intelligent people, I’ve gained an insight into the unique paths that each of them took and how different their paths are. I’ve also really enjoyed hearing other students and how their lives right now in sixth form is very similar to my own.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I really like how the firm emphases mental health being in this industry it can be very overwhelming and a huge step up I love how the first thing you see when you go into the website isn’t stats about their achievements or money but about well-being and safety.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • I think you should be yourself because Pinsent seems to me a firm that really likes originality and difference and If you pose as the ideal lawyer they don’t really want that but a creative, unique individual who has their own passions and ideas that could make the firm better.
