  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • The work experience involved a combination of independent and group tasks, as well as the chance to interact with trainee solicitors and qualified solicitors from a range of Pinsent Masons' departments. Split over 4 days, I learnt about a range of areas of law, from contract to employment law, through presentations, debates, and discussions.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I had the opportunity to work on a range of skills. These included group work and discussion skills, as well as my attention to detail in working on lease reports and other such tasks. I also worked on my public speaking skills in presenting ideas to the whole cohort all together.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I really enjoyed my work experience placement here. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to take part in this week-long programme. I have been able to ask many questions and gain insight into the life and work of Pinsent Masons' solicitors, which has certainly inspired me to carry on pursuing this career.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The week was incredibly well organised, in large part thanks to the Early Talent team. The use of Teams and their online forage platform made communication simple and hassle free, and I found that I always knew what I was meant to be doing and when the next session started.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I learned a significant amount about the company culture of Pinsent Masons. I learned about their consistent desire to improve in terms of their sustainable business practices. I also learned a lot about the nature of office teams and communities which are very diverse and also host a range of fun events.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • This work experience placement has definitely helped further consolidate the fact that I want to become a lawyer in the future. Speaking to the passionate, engaged, and dedicated trainee solicitors and qualified lawyers, I feel that I am incredibly set on my dream of becoming a practicing lawyer in England.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No, I was not paid or reimbursed for this experience. Though, I never expected to be paid for it given that I did not partake in any live cases, nor did I carry out any particular service for the firm. It was an online experience and insight programme, not a formal vac scheme.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • Yes. There were a number of opportunities, which I really appreciated. From two optional networking lunch opportunities, to being put with two mentors who are current trainee solicitors, there were so many chances to network and connect with others. I certainly feel that I have made some connections in the peers I spoke to.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The firm's culture feels very organised, relaxed, and dedicated to furthering themselves in terms of their service to their clients. The diversity of the firm and the community atmosphere creates a wonderful working environment that would seem to me to be the ideal place in which to develop legal knowledge.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • I would say to most definitely apply, because if you don't apply you certainly will not get in! The Early Talent team are wonderful in answering any questions you might have, so if there is anything you may need, I would encourage anyone to reach out to them and ask!
