  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • The work experience that I attended, involved a very helpful and exciting in-person insight day and a 4 day online work experience programme. Most of the tasks that we received during the programme were really interesting and it gave us a very good look on what a lawyer would do. We got to work in groups and work through many different case studies and legal tasks that gave me a close look on what I would be doing if i became a lawyer.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • I got to understand the different types of law and i got to realise how law affects every aspect of life so it is a very flexible degree with many possibilities. I have learnt a lot about law, which has encouraged me to choose this career path. During the actual tasks I got to improve on my analysing skills and I also got to find out what I should improve on (e.g. understanding the formal language more).

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • This was by far the best work experience I have attended, it was very informative and not repetitive, therefore it didnt become boring. There was a variety of different tasks and you got to explore what you enjoy the most, and what do you have to focus a bit more on. Overall it was a great experience and i would definitely want to take part in more programmes like this.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The work experience was very professional, with a very clear and easy to understand website. It was very easy to access the meets through this website and there was rarely any issues with it. Apart from the website, all the leaders and trainees were very well prepared with the tasks and presentations that they had for us and they were always able to fit everything in the amount of time that they had.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • During the in-person insight day I learnt that pinsent masons is a well respected company all around the world. I learnt that they are very inclusive and diverse and will not take on every project just for the money but it also has to agree with their beliefs. I got to learn how well treated the workers are in the office, which made it seem like it is a really enjoyable place to work in.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • Before this work experience, I had some doubts on what career path I should choose and I had no idea of what I want to do. After this programme I kind of got an idea of what I would want to do in life and it is making me want to look more into law. I am definitely more convinced to do law now than I was before.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was not paid or reimbursed for this experience as it was a voluntary programme in order to gain work experience for the future. The programme was mostly online and lasted four days for which we will receive a certificate for. It is a good thing to write on my UCAS and to have something to talk about if i decide to do law.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There was an in-person day were we met the trainees and other work experience students which was really fun. Apart from that there was an interactive lunch break in between the sessions where you could chat to other people about this experience and meet new people. Overall there were many opportunities to discover and meet new people.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend pinsent masons to a friend because it is a great form of work experience. If I had a friend who is not sure wether they want to do law or not, I would recommend this programme as it would probably convince them. I would also recommend it to anyone who is sure that they want to do law as it will give them a very good look on what the job looks like. Other than this it is very fun, interactive and informative and you get to meet many new intersting people that may help you with your career choice.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • The only tip that I would give to other people would be to do some work experience before this programme as you will have a better idea of what it is about. I would also advise on knowing some basics about the law as it could definitely help the students with completing the tasks.
