My work experiences involved attending all of the virtual sessions. I also did multiple activities such as debating with the main group and in breakout rooms. I also wrote my own clauses and examined different types of contracts such as Acts and Leases. Lastly I took down different practical tips for interviews and CVs.
I learned the skill of focusing on details. This taught me how to read and absorb large amounts of information and spot errors quickly. I also learned good organisational skills , as I learned how to manage myself this week with the timetable and assignments. Lastly I gained good communication skills as I got to network with all of the different students.
I really enjoyed this work experience. I got to learn more about the day in the life of a solicitor and the varies tasks they do. It gave me a real insight on how they work with others on their team in order to efficiently provide good services for their clients.
My work experience was very organised. The timetable was easy to access and the format was very clear and precise. Using the online platform forage, was very efficient as it displayed our timetable, resources and our tasks. The links were very reliable and outlined which session was live and which session requires our attendance.
I learned a lot about the company culture. I discovered that the work life at Pinsent Masons is very lively. When I was there for the Insight Day , I discovered the culture at the law firm. Everyone was very kind and worked with unison with each other. It was clear that Pinsent Masons values a strong sense of community at the company.
This work experience helped me a lot in deciding on my future path. It really showed me how life as a solicitor is not boring and overly stressful. It also showed me how broad the field of law is as they are many different areas in which you can study.
I was not paid during this work experience. The virtual programme was just an insight into law and was not like a job. I did get the opportunity to participate in the Insight Day and took photos around the office. The photos may be on the Pinsent Mason website or the newsletter.
There were many opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. During the Insight Day , I had tot opportunity to talk to different members of staff , such as people in HR , trainee solicitors and paralegals. During the virtual programme, I had the opportunity to talk to the different students and members of staff that did our sessions.
Yes
I would recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend as it is a purpose led law firm. At Pinsent Masons they strive to better the community through diversity and inclusion. They recognises how everyone id different and challenges the status quo by giving legal advise to every type of client. Since they are such an honourable company , I would advise my friends to go there.
I would advise others to really put themselves out there. They will get as much as they put in. The programme offers a large range of aspects in commercial law and gives you multiple opportunities to reach out and talk to different people. When applying be bold , be different and be your authentic self.
