  • 1. Please give an overview of what your virtual experience involved:
  • The Work experience was very informative and covered a wide range of topics. There was a lot of presenting, however the interactive tasks were very good. I, personally had a lot of issues with teams which made me feel that I didn’t get as much out of the experience as I could have. But I still appreciate and am thank for this opportunity nonetheless

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your virtual experience?
  • We received a wide range of presentations from a wide range of specialities meaning that there was something that would interest everyone. We also worked in Drafting and understanding clauses in contracts and legislation which I personally found very interesting and beneficial. Finally there were activity in which we made decisions about topics and then saw if it complied with what the courts ruled / the law

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your virtual experience?
  • I had connection difficulty, meaning that often I found it hard to see the slides or the people speaking. However when it was working I found the experience very enjoyable as the team at Pinsent Masons tried really hard in order to ensure our engagement in the programme, something that I really appreciated

  • 4. How well organised was your virtual experience?
  • The programme was very well organised with break accounted for. There were various events on each day that we could attend meaning that there was always something to be doing or someone to be listening to. There were no long gaps or any events running behind schedule, overall it was very organised. There was also always someone on hand if you were having an issue via the email

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • Having had the in-person insight day, I learnt so much about the corporate culture from the people working there and it seemed like a place that you would be lucky to work at. Everyone who worked there seemed happy that about the workplace and said they were taken care of by the company, even we they had to work late on an important job

  • 6. How much did your virtual experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • Having already decided I wanted to study law, the programme gave me great insight into all the different departments and opportunities that a career in law. I never realised how many different things a lawyer had to do and how important there are to companies, not just when someone commits a crime or when someone has a complaint such as an unfair dismissal

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • The programme was free to partake in. We were also given a bag of different things in the in person day, including a water bottle, a bag and other stationary. We were also given lunch at the office as well as refreshments throughout the day, including teas, coffees and snacks!

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were many opportunities to meet new people both in the office and online. We were given the opportunity to partake in many different networking lunch’s with both solicitors, trainees and each other. The online networking lunch’s gave us the chance to meet and network with other people our age across the country

  • Yes

  • Pinsent Masons not only boasts a fantastic corporate culture but everyone that I came into contact with from the firm were very welcoming and helpful in answering any questions that anyone had. Their online work experience also allowed for great insight into the firm and the types of law that they offer


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • To take advantage of all the opportunities that they offer you, to ask questions and participate is group discussions. Participating in the group discussions allows for a deeper understanding of the content being covered, it also makes the experience as a whole more enjoyable! Everyone is soo friendly that you don’t feel like there is any wrong questions
