  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • Learning the routes into law, some aspects of commercial law and the role of a trainee/qualified solicitor at Pinsent Masons. There were also tasks such as Lease Reports to test your aptitude for Law and your skillset, alongside collaborative activities aimed at developing key skills necessary for a solicitor.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • throughout the experience I developed skills like problem solving, critical thinking and communication, all skills vital for a career in law. Furthermore, specific skills were also learnt, like interpreting statute, summarising contracts and creating clauses. The group exercise also allowed me to develop confidence and teamwork, by creating ideas alongside other likeminded individuals.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I found it thoroughly enjoyable, with a healthy mix of learning, lecturing and individual and group work. the experience was well structured to ensure you would be attentive and not feel bored. Each session offered something unique to another and cumulatively came together to form a massively enjoyable and insightful experience.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • The early talent team and everybody involved managed to organise the experience to great effect. Each session was important to attend and provided knowledge. the use of 'Forage' provided a centralised hub for all information and resources which only added to the organisation. plus, communication was well utilised to keep participants informed.

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • I feel that over time period, I had learnt more and more about Pinsent Masons' culture, values and ethos. Additionally, the insight from trainee and qualified solicitors concerning their day to day and wider role as a part of the Pinsent Masons team allowed me to gain clear understanding on the collaborative culture of the firm.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • I was already pretty cemented on a future career as a solicitor, and the experience further solidified my feelings. It provided thorough detail on the culture of a law firm like Pinsent Masons and the role of solicitor, as well allowing me to feel confident in my aptitude for law by participating in the tasks

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I had no expenses so had no need to be reimbursed. I also did not need to be paid as it is a student experience, therefore it is about the insight gained, rather than any monetary gain, and i personally believe that the insight and experience was more than enough value

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were many opportunities for networking both with other participants and employees of Pinsent Masons. the allocation of supervisors for small groups also allowed more intimate opportunities to ask questions and gain advice, as well as gain more detailed information on their journeys through a legal career. so overall many opportunities to interact with employees

  • Yes

  • A wholly valuable experience, massively beneficial to anybody debating a career in Law. Pinsent Masons' programme displays their collaborative and inclusive values, giving students great insight into not only the world of law, but the employees of the firm and the firm itself, alongside information about future placements and opportunities with the firm.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • Go into the programme with an open mind, be engaged and attentive. ensure you partake in as much as you can, and collaborate in the group exercises, ultimately, you will only get back as much as you put in. If you commit to be engaged it will certainly be a massively beneficial opportunity
