  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • My work experience included a range of different activities. We had several talks about the different aspects of Law, such as Commercial Law, Employment Law and Street Law. They were extremely vibrant and interactive sessions, and opened my mind to becoming a solicitor. As well as this, there were several Case studies, Leases and Causes we had to alter/make/improve. This task was quite insightful and I enjoyed the work given to me.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • From my experience, I learned several skills. Attention to detail was one of the more crucial skills that I learned. Some of the tasks that were set required us to pinpoint mistakes, identify certain elements, and give rise to suspicion on sections that needed more clarity or negotiation. This skill will prove to me crucial in the future.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • This work experience helped me greatly to decipher what exactly I wanted to do in the future. Originally, I was debating whether I should become a Barrister or a Solicitor. Luckily, this work experience swayed me more towards the Solicitor side as I did really enjoy this training so much.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • I was not paid for this experience, however I think if I was paid, I would then force myself to enjoy the experience rather than let the enjoyment come naturally. Not being paid meant I myself had to wake up early in order to get organised and logged in on time to finish clauses or listen to talks.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were plenty opportunities to network and meet other employees. We had three networking lunches, two virtual ones and one in person one. We got supervisors who answered every question we had in mind. There were always Trainee Solicitors who provided us with their emails and encouraged us to contact them if we had any queries about the firm or Law itself.
