It consisted of an insight day in the Belfast office followed by 4 days of virtual work experience We had a supervisor, got tips on applying for unviersity and afterwards. We also had group exercises, met trainees and solicitors and drafted clauses.
How to work in a group, listening skills, analytical skills and critical thinking. My own knowledge of the law also grew and the tasks trainee solicitors do.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was definitely the most practical, interactive work experience I have participated in.
It ran extremely smoothly and it was more than evident that a lot of preparation and planning was involved.
I learned first hand how friendly and uplifting the culture is despite being the private sector. There was a heavy emphasis on inclusion and well-being which appealed to me.
It was an eye-opening experience and definitely made law an appealing career choice for me.
No but lunch on the insight day and snacks were provided for free.
Yes, primarily on the insight day but also during the online work experience as we had sessions with supervisors and trainees and newly qualified solicitors.
Yes
They put an immense amount of effort into this program and it provided a realistic insight into the daily work of a solicitor and the atmosphere in the office which is typically hard to get out of any work experience.
Put effort into your application and put an emphasis on both your academic profile but also your hobbies and interests. This is worthwhile work experience and has provided me with a new insight into a legal career.
