  • 1. Please give an overview of what your work experience involved:
  • We took part in various online sessions in which we learned about different types of law e.g contract law and employment law which was very interesting and informative. We also got the opportunity to speak to various trainee solicitors which gave us a better insight into wha its like to practise law.

  • 2. What training and skills development did you learn from your work experience?
  • We were able to take part in various group exercises which allowed us to develop our communication and team working skills. These tasks also allowed us to analyse and really think about our reasoning behind certain judgements and conclusions that we came too. The CV and interview talk has helped me to understand how to properly structure my CV to give me a better chance at being noticed.

  • 3. To what extent did you enjoy your work experience?
  • I enjoyed this week to a great extent. At first I was nervous because I didn't know anyone else who was taking part and was worried about being put on the spot and asked questions that I wouldn't know the answer to. However, everyone has been so supportive and understanding on this experience and I have felt extremely comfortable when taking part.

  • 4. How well organised was your work experience?
  • the event was extremely well organised. Firstly, we were sent out many emails in advanced letting us know about the structure of the work experience week. We also had access to Forage which was a very useful resource that allowed us to access the timetable and various materials required for the week

  • 5. How much did you learn about the company culture and what it would be like to work there?
  • We learned a lot about the culture of Pinsent Masons through the responsible business talk which taught us about the inclusivity of the business and how the strive to help anyone no matter their background. We also learned about what its like to work there from the various trainee solicitors that we were able to speak to which was very informative.

  • 6. How much did your work experience help you in deciding on your future career path?
  • This work experience week was extremely helpful in helping me to decide on my future career path as before the event started I was still a bit confused and worried about what my options were. However, after completing the week I feel much more reassured that this is the right career path for me.

  • 7. Were you paid or reimbursed for this experience?
  • No we were not paid or reimbursed during this experience however, the knowledge we gained is worth more than any money and the opportunity to work with and learn from Pinsent Masons employees is priceless. Also I didn't choose to take part in the experience because of money, I wanted to gain a better insight into the work of a solicitor.

  • 8. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to meet employees of Pinsent Masons. Firstly, we had two supervisors who were trainee solicitors which allowed us to get to know their experiences and ask them any questions. Secondly, there was the trainee solicitor panel talk which allowed us to gain a better insight into what its like to work for a law firm such as Pinsent Masons.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Pinsent Masons to other people who I know want to pursue a career in law as all of the staff were very supportive and informative and I learned a lot from them. The experience provided me with opportunities to lear about law in ways which I have never had before.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • I would recommend just being yourself as they value people who have a big personality and who are unique. Speak up if you have any worries, concerns or questions as people are always there to help and support you no matter what. Use this as an opportunity to meet new people and learn from those around you.
