  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a telecoms field operative, repairing and installing telephone lines. I deal with customers faults, new line requests and intermittent diagnosis. I deal with internal and external faults and give advise to customers if the fault is not in our network but a fault that the service provider needs to fix.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme was very organised and structured. All my online mentor meetings were scheduled as soon as I started, so I knew which date in advanced I had to attend. The content was also shared before each meeting so we could have a file saved to refer back to when needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has made me look into the health and safety aspects of the role in greater detail, so I am aware of all the requirements to make sure I work safely when performing my role: it also gave me an insight into ofcom regulations and the importance of my role in the company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I was put forward to attend the House of Lords, promoting the apprentice scheme to MPs all over the country. This was a great networking event to be part of, as I also met lots of people within the company and learnt about their roles within the company. The company also organises Christmas parties for each region.
