  • I am currently a Site Engineer for water treatment and my role consists of: Setting out positions and levels for projects Surveying areas Assisting Site agents and Engineers Completing inspections test plans/quality check Ensuring the site meets health and safety needs Supervising works Measuring and ordering materials

  • The new skills and skills i have developed are: Using old and new setting out techniques to complete my tasks Using a range of surveying equipment Improve confidence Improved in organisations skills Developing my knowledge in health and safety and construction works Improving my team working skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy working as site Engineer, i enjoy working with other Engineers and operatives and learning from their knowledge and past experience, which i use in my day to day work. I also enjoy learning the different construction methods, materials and setting methods we come across in construction

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have worked with a range of Site agent and Engineers and each one of them has helped me improve and pushed me to be the best i can be. JN Bentley and LSP have provided me though support through my apprenticeship, which overall helped me be a better Engineer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have started having regular meetings with my line manager, on how i can improve and the next step in my development. My line manager often visits me on site and sees my progress first hand. My manager knows my goal is to be a setting out engineer when completed

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • LSP have always given me plenty of support my tutor is always on hand of i have any questions about assignments or on site. My tutor has shown and gone through engineering works with me which i hope to use on site. I.E profiles and setting out methods.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • 100% if i had a question with my assignments or on site, LSP are always on hand to provide assistance and guidance in my works

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I know Bentley provide loads of out of hours activities to take part in if i wanted.

  • 9a. Would you recommend JN Bentley to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because you can get first hand experience and meet great people in the progress. Plus they will always help you and push you to be the best you can be


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
  • Get involved in all aspect of the works, learn what the operatives do day in, learn what the commissioning Engineers do, ask subcontractors questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions or help.
