My main tasks in this role are to keep colleagues engaged in what the business is doing and to keep them up to date in what different departments are doing and how they are dealing with this new world COVID-19 has presented us, through emails, internal news articles and videos. I also help to create events that everyone within the business can get involved with, I also manage a budget which involves me having to raise Purchase Orders, deal with some third party clients, and monitor and track spending across the team. This role has given me great exposure to the wider business, allowing me to connect with dif-ferent departments and the opportunity to work with the TUI UK&I Board, which has been in-valuable.
Yes lots of management skills that are tailored to my apprenticeship, I have lead team meetings, worked within budgets and used management systems. It is all very beneficial and really helps for ticking off competencies when it comes to filling out my Individual learning pack
Very, every day I come into work and there is something new for me to do. Also the fact I get to work in multiple roles means I can expand my knowledge across the whole business and grow my network across TUI too. Also being able to go to uni and experience that side is great too
Very well, we know almost two years in advance when our university weeks are going to be, so we are able to plan our work day to days well ahead and we change roles every September, however the roles are suited to what the business needs so we may not know that until a couple of months before starting.
Lots of support, my manager allows me to take time to go through my individual learning pack with her to see where I can get more experience from and the apprenticeship team are always there if I need anything from a university point of view. The lecturers at uni also support too.
As mentioned before, if we are ever stuck on assignments we can either call them or email them and their response times are very quick and we are then able to get on with our work again. The main lecturer is very useful in cascading information when we need it.
In the university we get knowledge that I am then able to take back to my role and carry out. Through this I can then relate it back to my university assignments. Through applying my learning to my day to day role I can then tick of some ILP competencies.
At the moment due to COVID there are no activities but the business are starting to bring these back slowly, we have social groups which are run on Teams calls.
Yes
They are great to work for. Everyone is really welcoming and being able to get a degree whilst you work is a no-brainer. Being able to experience so many different roles really expands your knowledge on the business and the industry as a whole I would definitely recommend it!
Be confident, I was very nervous at sixth form before applying to work for TUI, however I was confident in my interview and the presentation I had created and managed to get the job. Since then I haven't looked back and have grown in confidence and know a lot about the industry compared to the start.
