  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program a lot as it suits me very well. I love learning on the job and being outside. All though this apprenticeship has small desk/computer based learning, i am enjoying being out in the the real world. I have been treated very well too. So i fully enjoy it here.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organisation here at OpenReach is great. they send regular emails through your recruitment so you are always aware of what is happening. You then get sent to Yarnfield for a big induction on what you will be doing and where you get all your equipment. This is all payed for by BT.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At the start you get a lot of contact from various managers about where you will be and what you will be doing. This helped a lot of us settle in. However, as you settle in i wish they were still there to speak to while you get into patches as another area for support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Today is the first day we have had proper contact from a training/apprentice provider. It is probably to early to comment yet but so far they seem very helpful an motivated to get the best possible outcome for you to pass this apprentiship with the highest standards possible. i

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training provider helps me feel very motivate to keep learning new skills and interests within the business. They are also helping us re-cap topics and skills we haven't learnt for a long time which is a great way to refresh the memory. I find this helpful as i feel like my understanding is becoming bigger.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At the moment no. This is down to many factors such as Covid, and me only just joining and finding out what patch im in. However, down the line i think there will be lots of activities and social events we can all join as a team and get to know others better.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Open Reach has a great connection to its staff and customers, the Union are great and always talks to the staff to get the best possible out come for everyone. I love working in the teams as i feel everyone gets on really well and has a great balance between working and having fun.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • I would say always ask if you are unsure with anything. There is so many different people and groups you can go to if in doubt. This incudes managers, groupchats, and sites. Everyone is happy to help at all times especially your colleagues who you will be getting very close to.
