  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an account apprentices entails carrying out month end balance recs, completing government surveys throughout the month, cash management, posting journals and admin tasks around the office such as filing. in terms of internal interactions I talk mainly to my core team but externally I talk to ONS when I have a query regarding there survey and other departments as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt various financial concepts from college which I have applied in the work place. i passed 3 AAT exams - indirect tax, advanced bookeeping and final accounts preparation. In terms of in the workplace ive increases my knowledge of SAP which is the accounting software we utilise. in terms of what ive learnt on the job. i have learnt how important being organised is for an accountant.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working for Rolls Royce because of the company culture as it motivates me to work harder along side that the team I'm working in has been supporting me in my role which has helped me progress in the workplace. working for rolls royce is what i expected it to be, hard work but fufilling.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • it could be structured better in the workplace, but in terms of my qualification and college its organised well, i have a good support system with regular meetings with my manager. currently there is a clear delegation of tasks which helps but at the start there wasn't however of time it improved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i recieved a lot of support from the members in my team and my manager they always willing to help me when i struggle with something which has helped grow my confidence alot in the work im carrying out. ive also had a lot of hours shadowing various members on my team which has helped me understand the processes in the business.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • i receive a lot of support from my college regarding exams, work etc.. my tutor always willing to help us even outside college hours. i enjoy going college aswell as i can network with other students doing the same work as me in the workplace so its a good environment to be in.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What I'm learning in college has benefitted me immensely in the work place as its taught me new concepts which I didn't know previously for example accruals and prepayments before college I've heard of the concept but didn't really understand it after taking my exam the financial information i was reviewing at work became a lot more easier to understand.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There's a few event which occur but not alot so it would be good if there were more social events in order to mingle with other people from different departments but for the time being i havent been to any event since i started and i would like that to change.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Rolls royce pushes for excellence not only regarding the products they produce but also the individuals who work for rolls royce this motivates me to work harder and to aim to over achieve in anything i have to carry out whether that is in the workplace or outside it (college.)


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • To be yourself, and to make sure you set yourself apart from the crowd in terms what you do in your spare time in order to achieve the goals you've set for yourself. Be intentional throughout the interview and assessment centre days by marketing yourself in the best light possible.
