the work experience provided numerous workshops giving an insight into different areas of always and the different routes into a legal profession, as well as the opportunity to network with peers and legal professionals. the programme also provided tasks that we could do on our own, hence challenging us to work by ourselves and apply the knowledge we got in the sessions
a key skill that the work experience helped develop was commercial awareness which is a key skill for a solicitor. furthermore, there was a specific session dedicated to interview skills and how to improve our cv. it also developed out critical thinking skills and debating skills as we had a debate session
I thoroughly enjoyed the work experience as it was extremely informative and interactive, providing lots of essential information and tasks that would challenge and develop our abilities such as critical thinking. I also enjoyed how structured the sessions were and how prepared and friendly the trainees were, constantly being ready to answer ant questions and give us advice
the work experience was very organised, starting with an induction session a few days before the start of the programme, hence ensuring that we all had access to the interface used for this specific programme. moreover we were provided with a timetable of all the sessions which were all very engaging and informative
this work experience taught me a lot about Pinsent Masons' culture and the values they stand for, as well as their aims. it was very beneficial to speak to the trainees and other legal professionals as they often spoke about their route into law and specifically their day to day responsibilities
this work experience definitely reinforced the idea that I should pursue a career path into the legal sector, however it made me realise that there are certain areas of law that interest me more, for example contract law as opposed to environment law which was very beneficial for my future
no I was not paid for this work experience as it wasn't meant to pay anything, moreover there were no reimbursed expenses for travel or meal as it was virtual so I didn't have to travel anywhere hence didn't spend anything as a result of this programme
there were many opportunities to network with my peers and legal professionals, for example there was an optional networking lunch that allowed us to share social media informations and further develop our network, moreover, there was also a chat function which we could use to talk to some of the other people on the programme
Yes
one reason why I would recommend pinsent masons to a friend is the firm's culture that was demonstrated in the programme, everyone there was extremely friendly and always ready to answer any questions or give any advice. another reason is the thoroughness of the programme and how useful it ended up being
one advice I would give to anyone applying to pinsent masons would be to be yourself and showcase your personality, knowledge and interests. furthermore, when applying make your application detailed and tailored to the programme as opposed to being too generic it is better to be more specific about why you are applying
