  • Whilst being an apprentice at SSE I have leant new skills and developed already existing ones. • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I so far have enjoyed my time with SSE as an apprentice. I work with a great team of people. Everyone here is lovely and easy to get along with. The company itself is an amazing place to work, they take safety very seriously. I have had a slow start to my apprenticeship but that is due to how busy the site has been.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship programme at SSE is very well structured. As soon as my college started my boss and I sat down to work out a plan of what I will be doing and what deadlines I will need to meet for each college unit I am doing. However due to Covid and site activity deadlines have not been met and I have had a very slow start to my apprenticeship.

  • I receive a good amount of support from my employer. My boss and co-workers have made sure that I know that if I ever need anything or if I am confused/struggling then I can always ask for help. If I ever need more to do then I can ask for it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. My college tutor always makes sure to have weekly check in calls and emails me regularly. We go over what work I have done in the week and discuss what could be done next. If I have nothing to do then they will make sure to set me some as long as I let them know I'm needing it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At SSE (for the power station site that I work at) there is a Soc & Rec. They organise meeting and out of work gatherings for people to attend and to be social with their fellow co-workers. We also get to have an annual Christmas lunch which is paid for by the company. I think there is also some sort of golf club
