  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently, I am working as a business analyst; this involves interacting with the client to understand the next features that they want to be worked on, interacting with the team to work out what is possible and the documenting this for the development team to be able to begin their work. Also, I run the daily stand-up meeting from the platform development team to see how they are progressing and the areas where more support is required.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt how to use new software, particularly Jira which is a tool my team use to document the work flow and keep track of who is working on what areas. The more you use it the more features you learn about that makes documenting and tracking work easy. I have increased my confidence as I have presented work to the client on multi occasions, which is a great opportunity.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall I enjoying my program, it is great that my team trust me and are providing me with the chance to develop my skills and grow in the company. Sometimes it can be quite a lot as you are learning so much all the time both at work and at university. I definitely like that I can work alongside my studies though, being able to meet my team one day a week in the office has really been a bonus too.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction part of the program was quite overwhelming as to begin with the new joiner group also contained experienced hires who have far more experience that those on the apprenticeship program. Once we got into the flow of university and work though it has been very good, there is clear time designated in the week for when I am at university.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team are great and understand that I don't work on Mondays due to my studies so I am able to fully focus on my university day. I have not yet encountered any problems but I feel the support would be there if I was to experience any. Not everyone knows what the degree apprenticeship is so sometimes you have to explain it for people to understand your level and situation.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have multiple different tutors for the different modules that make up this course. There is a varying degree of support from the tutors. On a whole they are very supportive and understand that we only have one day a week plus weekends for our studies. In a few instances instances the structure of this course has to be reexplained so that the support can reflect this.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification that I am gaining is teaching a foundation of knowledge that I am able to apply to my role. Even if it not really obvious that I am using skills I have gained through my qualification the more I learn the more I find cross over in my role and deeper understanding. I can only assume that the more I learn on my course the more I will see improvement in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • When I first started this program everything was online due to the pandemic so extra-curricular events, despite there being some virtual ones they were still harder. But as more in person events have been allowed I have begun going to networking and social events. I have yet to join a sports team but maybe this is one for the summer.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Accenture to a friend because the program I am on enables you to work and study at the same time which I think is a great way to learn (plus gain first hand experience at the same time). Also, there are so many interesting people that work at Accenture that you have a great opportunity to meet some of them. The nature of the project work that occurs at Accenture means that you can develop so many different skills.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • You can hide passion; if you really want it, it will show. Do your research, show that you are really interested in the company and have taken the time to find out lots about them. Accenture has worked on so many cool, exciting projects its hard to narrow down your favorites. BE YOURSELF! Accenture is very inclusive so just be you.
