  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a normal day to day in my current placement I am part of the team that supplies the tools to the lines. I work independently for the majority of the time in this placement. When working on the lines I shadow the technicians to learn how to find and fix machine breakdowns.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have done a few training courses like, ladder training, working at heights, risk assessment and first aid, as part of my apprenticeship. These were all provided by the company and directly relates to the jobs that we undertake. I have better time management skills now from balancing a degree around a full time job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The people that I work with make the job enjoyable and they all like to helps us learn the most that we can. They offer to show us new things and answer any questions. The job itself is a little hard work but I think it will get easier with time, when I get used to working full time and having a social life outside of work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • For the degree program it has been well organised and delivered to a good standard, the first year of btec and foundation competence was a little disorganised but all the work got done, this was due to the training provider not the company. The structure of the placements is goof with 12 weeks being allocated to each placement.
