  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a software engineer, I learn to code and enhance solutions using multiple languages such as SQL and unix. These tasks differ everyday with each project I take on, so you'll regularly be changing what you do everytime you log on. It's a great learning experience for me.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Through education I studied IT and business, which helped me grasp the idea and concept of different programming languages and general project management. However, by being in a working environment, I have found that I am looking at each of these more thoroughly and trying new things every single day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the challenges I face when it comes to my programme. I didn't expect to become so immersed in such critical projects within the working environment so soon into my career path, however I'm always involved and love the challenges of deadlines and relationships with clients.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured and provides me with constant support and training. If I have struggled with something, I was instantly supported by people that have previously encountered the programme and am able to find a healthy balance between my working environment and my education provided with study days.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a large amount of support from both senior members as well as individuals that have undergone the same scheme/programme as me. This is in relation to both working environment queries as well as when it comes to the degree work too. Everyone is very quick to support!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a certain amount of support in line with lecturers working/office hours but I have recognised from personal experience that there is a slightly more flexible level of support with the degree co-ordinator (longer hours). I don't often find myself asking for support from the training providers .

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the programme has helped me in my career hugely because the blended approach allows me to learn new things through my degree but then instantly be able to implement that into my daily roles and have a better insight as to how things can have such impact.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have many activities that all individuals can get involved in in the company. I help run a community where all graduates and apprentices/ Early and Emerging Talent in the company can take part in social activities and ice breakers, giving people a huge sense of belonging in the company.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I personally believe as an apprentice there is such a huge sense of belonging and so many opportunities to achieve practically anything. The ability to change roles and work on so many different projects and services really allows me to build and challenge myself through a variety of critical projects

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be yourself. Show great determination and don't be afraid to challenge yourself and get involved. By getting involved, you're potentially opening yourself up to so many opportunities that you may not have known had existed. It also allows you to become a lot more visible in the company!
