  • I currently work in a team that maintains a network utilized by colleagues and customers from across our Media & Broadcast division. We are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of switches, routing and firewalls.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my basic networking skills, including completing a Cisco CCNA course and plan to take an exam on this in the near future to become officially accredited.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is extremely enjoyable with amazing opportunities to volunteer and get well involved in the Apprentice community. BT treats every apprentice in exactly the same way as any other colleague and provides amazing opportunities to get involved across all of our business units.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured, with an agile working pattern and on-the-job training with unlimited support wherever it may be required.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a great level of support, including buddys, understanding line managers, an Apprenticeship team and an amazing Apprentice community where you can meet and connect with Apprentices who are at different stages in their career journey.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I recieve a good amount of support from my course leader and course tutors. These often change on each unit but generally, all are happy to help when dropping them an email.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have been able to lift knowledge directly from my university degree into my workplace but it has also provided fundamental networking knowledge that I have been able to build upon through the CCNA qualifications

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there is a huge social community of apprentices. We often meet each week in a casual study environment so we can support each other in our university assignments. We also can get involved in different networks to volunteer and share the amazing benefits of apprenticeships

  • It is a great place to start your career with so much support and can absolutely be a place where you can build your lifetime career
