  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to help out the audit team with testing specific FSLIs. I do the exact same role as everybody else however just test the easier parts of the financial statements and the more complex things are done by the more senior people on the team. This involves normally being on a team catch up in the morning and then getting on with my testing for the rest of the day

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills. My main one being my excel skills and general computer skills, these have improved massively as I have been required to use these everyday. I have also learnt how to communicate with clients as this is something that I have never done before this job.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is a great opportunity as an alternative to uni and you come out with the same qualification as the graduates and qualify at least 2 years quicker than them. It is very full on and is hard to balance the work and exams sometimes but it is all manageable as long as you set the correct boundaries.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured as it has been going on for many years. They send a schedule of when your college days and when your exams are for the whole first year. They are well set up and my cohort had about 20 people from all around the country join

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from PwC. Everyone gets a career coach who is a manager in the office that you speak to if you are having any issues whether they are work or non work related. You also get a talent coach which is a similar contact but from Kaplan and they help you with keeping you on your apprenticeship pathway

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is very good in helping in my role because it helps me learn about the background of the accounting concepts to help me understand whether or not the client are correctly accounting for it. Also they are very good at putting the exams at certain times for example we do the accounting exam which is quite a kep exam near the beginning

  • Yes, at the office we have pillars which you can get involved in which are the diversity and inclusion pillar, social and wellbeing, feedback, quality and one other. We also have a bowling club where we go bowling on the 3rd thursday of every month. We also have a cambridge office cricket team in the summer and play against other businesses.

There is great career progression and huge potentials to move into any sector that you would like to. They have many offices over the country and the world so you have lots of freedom to go wherever you like.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Use key words when doing your first questions on your online interview as these are marked by AI and are programmed to pick up key words which will then move you further in the process. When playing the games, don't overthink it, just complete them how you normally would
