  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have became much better at software development as the placement with PwC has allowed me to improve my technical skills side by side with my university work. In particular I gained a lot of experience with the agile process, cloud knowledge and c sharp. All of the skills learned on placement will supplement me well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I had a great time on the technology degree apprenticeship. It has been well structured considering that I am enrolled on it's first ever cohort in Northern Ireland. I have been able to move around and get experience in places of the business that I am most interested in.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well structured. It is a 4 year program that cycles between university and work placements within Pricewaterhousecoopers. It allowed me to get the full student experience, by going to university full time with other peers. Over the summers I was then able to get valuable work experience while on placement.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received a vast range of support from PwC in a variety of ways. PwC has assigned us a buddy, and a career coach who we have been able to go to at any time throughout our placement for guidance and support.I have also received financial support, in the form of a monthly salary ever since starting the apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • PwC has been very good in structuring the placement around university times to allow full concentration to be dedicated to the qualifications. They have supported me financially which has allowed me to put more focus on my studies instead of having to rely on a part time job. They have also put me through a variety of internal qualifications outside my degree.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification has a big impact on enabling me to perform my role day to day. My role for the past number of placements has been on the software development team which has been supplemented well using the software engineering degree that PwC has put me through.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • PwC have a variety of extra curricular activities on each month, all free of charge. Some of them are firm wide, and some happen within the team. This has been great after covid as it allowed me to really get time to know my team after remote working. All free of charge of course.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It has been a great program which has given me a lot of financial independence from a part time job allowing me to focus more time onto my studies. It has been very comforting knowing that I have a full time job on graduation without scrambling in June and competing against a much larger body of graduates.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • I would advise any applicants to use any opportunities given to them by PwC as they are always extremely useful for the future of your professional career. They have a high monetary budget for personal training each year which allows you to pick qualifications of your choice that you would like to undertake.
