  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a senior office manager, I oversea the Admin Office and staff across 3 Academy's. Ensuring that processes and procedures are followed. Identifying training needs and assisting with HR and Payroll procedures. As well as attending weekly meetings with Headteacher and the Academy's Business Advisors.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed management skills as well as active listening skills. I have been able to develop my report writing skills and time management. I have also been able to improve my HR Skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have always had a good working relationship with my colleagues. I am currently working with new teams and this has been a really good experience, It has taken my out of my comfort zone, however, this has helped me to develop my interpersonal skill more. I love my role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Being in my current role I have had lots of support from my line manager and also the other Senior Office Managers. I have been on various training courses over the past few months to help me in role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am being supported in all areas and there is training available when needed. If I have had any problems along the way I have been able to get guidance from the appropriate member of staff. My line manager is mentoring me and we have regular meetings.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have received great support from my training provider, the team were always on hand to help me with my qualification. We had regular meetings and if I needed extra help they were always to facilitate these. If and when I have problems I was given guidance on what I needed to improve. I really enjoyed our meeting and discussions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This qualification has been a great help to me and my role, I have a better understanding of ways I can improve my working practices and what I need to look out for in others. How I can support the teams I work with and how I can improve the outcomes for the organisation I work for and all the stakeholders.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have regular social events on and off site. The Trust also holds an annual away day where staff are able to meet colleagues from other academy's and participate in group activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The Trust has a great ethos that compliments my own beliefs and morals. The expectations of all staff are high. There is always opportunities to improve your career within the organisation and this is very much encouraged.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to STEP Academy Trust?
  • With any application make sure you have done your background research, come in and visit, make sure you have answered all the questions on the PS and if you don't have direct experience in an area think about your transferable skills and how they can help.
