  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As the Office Manager in one of the STEP Academy's, I am responsible for processing orders for teaching and learning, assisting the Headteacher, producing and send letters to parents, managing the Admin team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt better time management, the importance of and reason why the Census is carried out. How to generate income for a school and various laws and guidelines schools must follow.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying it, it allows me to put into practice what I have learnt and to make improvements in how I carry out my role. The feedback from my assignments have been helpful so I know how I can improve.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised as it allows the learning to work at their paste, as a learner I have been able to choose which assignments I do. Meetings are arranged regularly and at a suitable time. My Assessor is available for chats as and when needed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive ensuring I am getting extra training where needed so that I can complete the course. I have had 121 meetings with my employer to enable me to better understand some of that task that I might not have done that is relevant to the course content.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have had a lot of support from my Assessor, she is always there for me she has helped me to access platforms to help me with my learning. I have been able to access 121 tuition which I have fortnightly to ensure that I am able to complete the course and get the qualification I am working towards.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This course has opened my eyes to so many different aspects of my job. I can see the processes from a different point of view and have a better understand as to why different elements are so important the knock on effect that my actions have and how it impacts on the school and funding we receive and how we can ensure a better future for the children and community.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes as an office manager we have regular meetings which allows me to network and learn from other managers that have been in the role longer. We also have lots of social events as a trust and a school.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend them the support is great and the course content is also very good. This has been a fantastic CPD for me. I have learnt so much and this is something I can use in my current role and any future role as there is so much in it.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to STEP Academy Trust?
  • If you are applying to this company to complete a qualification you will be in good hands. Ensure you complete your application in good time with as much information as possible. On assessment days be ready with your answers and make sure you have uploaded your assignments. If you are struggling in any areas be honest about it as they will offer you extra help. It is hard work but you will see the benefits straight away.
