  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Supporting Bid Managers within Commercial department of VM wholesale with Bids and Proposals. Responding to RfPs, ITT and any RFQs. Helping coordinate and draft responses, manage documentation of content and assisting with the analysis of RFPs. As well as this occasionally supporting the commercial pricing analysts with lower value deals.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to thoroughly develop a range of my skills such as team working and networking skills, analytical skills and time management to be specific. Working within this role I have learnt the importance of being flexible and adaptable to help achieve goals and objectives.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has been amazing so far. Only 6 months in and I have been able to ease my way into the business and get involved in more activities and fulfil my role constantly learning from my peers. A very welcoming team with a positive work culture that motivates me to succeed even further.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised allowing me to spend adequate time studying for my qualification and ensuring that my work life balance is prioritised. The one week induction allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of the company itself and then get stuck into my team. Monthly seminars to study for my apprenticeships and regular 1-2-1 to ensure I am progressing as expected.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been extremely supportive from the very beginning. Virgin Media have a very strong family atmosphere where everyone is there to take care of you. My voice is always heard and any issues and queries are quick to be resolved. Regular 1-2-1s with my manager to go through personal and professional goals.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider have been great to work with. Both my Tutor and mentor are always available for a chat and to give a hand and will give all the information needed. I have enjoyed the learning aspect and the seminar sessions provided and the support that comes along the way with monthly 1-2-1 chats

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification gives me a different perspective to how things are done currently within the business. This is very insightful and at times allows me to think outside the traditional way of working and adopt a new approach to get things done more effectively. As well as this it allows me to think about how our competitors can approach certain situations.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Virgin Media have several different activities for apprentices and graduates to get involved in. For example one event was to talk about apprenticeships and Virgin Media to local schools to give an insight to students and open their options to the working world. They also have 5 for 5 volunteering days where you can take 5 paid days off to help your chosen registered charity.

  • Yes

  • Virgin Media is an amazing company filled with people who are passionate about what they do and succeeding. They take care of you and promote growth and new opportunities. An excellent space to succeed and develop further within a great environment. No day is same with plenty of changes and diversity.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • Be yourself and take pride in your strengths. Don't be afraid of what you don't know because that is something that can change!
